Experiments in Wax
Materials: wax, water, silicon mold
summer 2012
Experiments in Wax is a series of experiments that attempt to create algorithms that dictate the casting process in producing families of wax objects that resembled each other but were different. A main interest lies in exploring and observing how energy and force, under different physical and chemical environmental conditions, could potentially be documented in material.
These tests use the implosive energy released when boiled wax is mixed with cold water. This series includes tests with water soluble and water insoluble liquids, as well as liquids with different acid and base values.
